Superintendent’s Newsletter - April 6, 2025 Update

Dear Beverly Parents and Families,

I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the signs of spring that are slowly starting to emerge across our community. It’s been an exciting and busy few weeks in our schools, and I’m thrilled to share some highlights with you.

Celebrating Culture and Storytelling at Ayers
This past week, Ayers Elementary had the pleasure of welcoming Ada Ari, an author and African storyteller, for a truly unforgettable experience with all grade levels. Ada captivated our students with her vibrant energy, teaching a Ghanaian dance, sharing her own rendition of traditional African folktales, and showcasing a variety of authentic African artifacts. Her enthusiasm brought her presentation to life and gave our students a powerful connection to African culture and traditions.

MCAS Season Underway
We are now in the midst of MCAS testing for students in grades 3–8 and grade 10. Our students have been working diligently to prepare, and we are proud of their efforts. While we recognize that there are many perspectives on standardized testing, MCAS remains one of the important tools we use to gather data that informs our instructional practices.

We ask for your continued support at home by offering your child encouragement and reassurance as they approach these assessments. Remind them that this is an opportunity to demonstrate all they have learned and the skills they’ve developed. It’s just one measure of their many talents and capabilities.

BHS Jazz Ensemble Shines
A huge congratulations to our Beverly High School Jazz Ensemble, who earned a Gold Medal at the MAJE State Finals Jazz Festival! We are incredibly proud of our talented musicians and the hard work they’ve put into their craft. Bravo!

Middle School Hosts Waffleland Breakfast
On March 29th, the third annual Middle School Waffleland Family Breakfast was held—and what a success it was! The event serves both as a fundraiser for our grade 6 overnight trip to Nature's Classroom and as a “first look” for our rising fifth-grade students. Hosted by our dedicated teachers at BMS, the event welcomed over 700 families and was a wonderful celebration of community. Thank you and congratulations to our amazing staff for organizing such a fantastic event.

Spring Sports Are in Full Swing
With warmer weather arriving, spring sports are officially underway! We wish all of our student-athletes a fun, safe, and successful season. Best of luck to our 441 students competing on Baseball, Softball, Boys and Girls Lacrosse, Boy and Girls Track, Boys and Girls Tennis, Sailing and our Middle School track athletes! Go Panthers!

Music in the Air
This past month, the Beverly High School music department wowed audiences with three sold-out performances of The Addams Family: School Edition. Congratulations to all the students, staff, and volunteers who brought this spooky and spectacular show to life!

In addition, our All City concerts were held this past week with amazing performances from our Band, Chorus and Strings! The venue was packed each evening and our students did not disappoint!
Next up we look ahead with excitement to the Middle School’s production of The Little Mermaid Jr. on May 9th and 10th. Mark your calendars—you won’t want to miss it!

Thank you for your continued support of Beverly Public Schools. As always, we are so proud of the accomplishments of our students, staff, and community. Wishing you and your family a wonderful spring season.

Warm regards,
