Overview

The Memorial Middle School in Beverly, Massachusetts, has adopted the learning theory of Differentiated Instruction.  This theory maximizes every students' potential.  This upcoming school year (2003-2004) each teacher must take ownership in this philosophy and adapt curriculum applying the differentiated instruction theory..

This Web site is intended for the use of students, parents, and educators.  Students at the Memorial Middle School will utilize this site taking part in lessons, Online learning environments, and other media that differentiates instruction. When using this site students will be put into academic environments in which they can reach their maximum learning potential.  When participating in these differentiated lessons, students will gain coping strategies, knowledge, and confidence.

Parents can use this Web site to view the differentiated content and lessons that the staff at the Memorial Middle School are producing to challenge their children.  In addition, this site enables parents to familiarize themselves with the theory of differentiated instruction.  Most importantly, parents of special education students can view links that can provide free assistive technology  for their children (text readers and Inspiration).

Teacher can benefit a great deal from this site.  First, this site serves as a differentiated instruction database where they can view lessons, research, and much more.  Teachers that need a lesson idea can view the lesson portion of this site.  Teachers who need some assistance creating DI lessons can view links related to this topic.  Teachers with many years of experience or a first year teacher can benefit from this site.
